The Designers Furniture Gallery was incorporated in 1980. Marilyn S Hansen was the Director of Interior Design for the department store J.L. Brandeis when it discontinued its furniture operation. Our first home was a 6000 sq. ft. mansion in disrepair at 39th and Dodge. We renovated it, submitted it to National historic Landmark, and received it’s designation in 1982.

The next 18 years were full of projects, large and small, community service projects, as well and an ASID Symphony Show house every year. We trained over 100 Interior Design Students from 1980 – 1998 who were in their internship process. Marilyn was chosen to head the Governor’s Residence Renovation in 1997-1998. This ASID endeavor was a $4.2 million success. She has continued being actively involved in maintaining the decor of the mansion to this day.
