In 2011 Paul created PEN architect, starting up as a small firm designing environments built for high quality dwelling and working. His diverse experience was gained as an Associate Principal at Bahr Vermeer Haecker Architects in Omaha since 1994 where he developed a strong background in interior architecture for housing, office and assembly spaces. At PEN, Paul is able to focus on design in a most effective way. It is his goal to “create and preserve great places that contribute to our quality of life.”

As a graduate of Iowa State University, he has served on several AIA awards juries. His work on the Mastercraft Building,”a creative campus for art-centric businesses” was recently published in the New York Times. He is currently collaborating with Emerging Terrain on Stored Potential II a project involving temporary installations that will celebrate the repurposing of a mid-century grain elevator along Interstate I-80. The Nebraska AIA has recognized Paul’s past work with design awards for the Joy Residence, Salhany Residence and the Whitcomb Conservatory in Crete, Nebraska.
